The Banana Whitt in Tobago

I am never ceased to be amazed by the ability of birds and startling array of colours,it is all too easy to watch them and dismiss
their agile antics, their bright and almost unnatural blues and greens, yellows and reds, not just in the birds in warm climates but the
ones just outside our kitchen window, or on our daily journeys each day.
The Weaver Bird building its nest in
Africa
I marvel their perseverance when getting something to eat, hanging upside down, building a nest, pecking furiously into fat balls, peanuts pieces of bread and other goodies we put out for them, or swooping down to grab a roadside morsel narrowly missing car speeding by.

An Ox Pecker on a Giraffe in Africa, clearly he is more interested in building his nest than eating the ticks off the giraffe's neck!
This little chap trilled out a delightful song for us as we sat and photographed him, in Italia Game Reserve

Sparrows in a Paris fountain enjoying a summer bath.

They are not photographs of rare or nearly extinct birds but just ones I meet on my daily walks, or I have taken on some of my lovely holidays.

The other afternoon whilst eating our sandwiches on the quay at East Cowes, we amused ourselves throwing out the crusts to the gulls.
They are noisy screeching birds, noticeable by their absence until the bread appeared in the air and then there were dozens of them, all fighting for a morsel.
Caught in mid flight their strength and grace of their wings is quite extraordinary.
I often take a series of photographs just to see what I get and I thought I would share them with you.
I am inclined to take them for granted as I walk along the woods and shores of my surrounding countryside, or just sitting by a pool or on a balcony in some faraway hotel but once home and I am able to see these wonderful creatures, in full flight or busy with their every day work, in front of me on the screen I marvel at what sight they create.

What super photos, Blossom.
Our bird table is overflowing with all the usual birds, and fieldfares are on the lawn.
Really beautiful Photo's Blossom, thank you for sharing with us.
I love all wildlife and have a special love of the birds, can watch them for hours.
Have been watching Simon King the Wildlife Photographer's programme filmed in the Shetland Isles recently, I can understand his sheer passion in photography for wildlife, to get up close with nature and to share with us, just as you have with your lovely pictures Blossom.
